Why TrumptonMany many moons ago, I used to get lots of nuisance phone calls, so I started answering the phone 'Trumpton Fire Station, Captain Flack Speaking'. This used to throw the callers off guard, and I'd often hear some giggling before they hung up. It has back-fired a couple of times - once I had a very nervous lady apologise to me because she thought she had dialled 999 by accident.
"Pugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble, Grub"
I remember Trumpton from my youth, I preferred it to Chigley and Camberwick Green, and always loved the firemen sliding down the pole in time to the music. Now, of course, I am all grown up, so I now love programmes like Postman Pat, and more recently, Balamory!
